MONITORING AND EVALUATION OF NUTRITION AND PPAN PERFORMANCE

 

The NNC Secretariat leads in the Monitoring and Evaluation of Local Level Plan Implementation (MELLPI) to assess its efficiency and effectiveness. MELLPI is an institutionalized activity of local nutrition committees through their multisectoral evaluation teams. The NNC Secretariat also encourages outstanding achievers in the implementation of local nutrition programs through the provision of nutrition awards in different categories. The guidelines on the the monitoring and evaluation of local level plan implementation (MELLPI) was formulated to provide a working document for field implementors in conducting the activity. This set of guidelines is inteded for use of PPAN implementors in conducting the MELLPI at the national, regional provincial, city and municipal levels.

The monitoring and evaluation of local level plan implementation aims to:

· Assess the efficiency of local level plan implementation, as indicated by the outreach of activities undertaken relative to the local nutrition action plan, funds expended as well as the management and support given by local executives and other implementing agencies.
· Measure changes in weight status of preschool and school children during the evaluation year and the immediate past three years.
· Determine the extent to which nutrition is integrated into local development plans and programs.
· Advocate for the continuing support for local nutrition programs.
