Nutrient
Content of Selected Agricultural Products
No single food contains all nutrients needed by the body in
the proper amount and proportion. Hence, even if milk and eggs
are sometimes erroneously referred to as "complete foods",
such is not the case. Milk and eggs have almost no vitamin C.
Milk has very little iron, and also fiber. Hence, eating a variety
of foods every day is important. Or, one should eat foods from
the three food groups - energy-giving or GO foods, body-building
or GROW foods, and body-regulating or GLOW foods. Observing the
colors of a meal is a simple test to determine if a meal represents
"a variety of foods". A colorful meal suggests "a
variety of foods".
